From related work to research contribution

Understand the overlap. Explore what’s new.

Bring related papers, shared concepts, and evidence-linked relationships into one view.

Find relevant literature.

Discover papers connected by meaning, beyond matching keywords. Follow source-linked evidence back to the work behind it.

Explore concept overlaps.

See where your paper shares concepts and relationships with indexed literature, then explore those connections in a research map.

Put novelty in context.

Use a corpus-relative novelty score to assess how your paper differs from indexed work. Interpret it alongside related papers and topic coverage.

From manuscript to informed assessment

  1. Bring a research paper

In the application, upload a PDF for comparison, including an unpublished manuscript when its data-handling arrangements meet your requirements.

  2. Compare with indexed literature

LitOverLap compares the paper with research already indexed in its vector database and knowledge graph to surface related work, concepts, and relationships.

  3. Review the score and the evidence

Explore concept overlaps, related papers, and a novelty score. Assess the findings alongside corpus coverage and your own subject expertise.

RESEARCHERS

Develop your contribution.

Compare an unpublished manuscript with indexed work. Explore conceptual overlap and potential points of difference before refining your contribution.

UNIVERSITIES & LABS

Inform research review.

Help research teams assess a paper’s relationship to existing literature, discuss overlapping ideas, and explore directions for further investigation.

JOURNALS & PUBLISHERS

Support manuscript screening.

Give editors a starting point for vetting submitted manuscripts: related work, concept overlaps, and a corpus-relative novelty score for expert review.

A score needs context

Novelty depends on the literature in view.

The novelty score reflects differences from the papers indexed by LitOverLap—not all published research. Meaningful assessment requires relevant papers on the topic in both the vector database and knowledge graph. Limited coverage can make a paper appear more novel than it is.

Expert judgment and unpublished manuscripts

LitOverLap supports research assessment and editorial screening. A novelty score does not establish global originality, detect every form of plagiarism, or determine whether a manuscript should be accepted. Review the underlying evidence and corpus coverage with subject expertise.

LitOverLap is a research prototype for trusted development environments; it does not yet include user authentication. This informational website does not accept papers. In the application, uploaded PDFs are stored in cloud storage. Before submitting unpublished work, review access, storage, retention, and deletion arrangements; do not assume confidentiality safeguards that have not been established.
